Happiness. Where does it come from?

Does it come from money? Love? Passion?

We all share goals in life. When asked "What do you want to be when you grow up?" you may refer to a job or a passion but have you ever considered to say "when I grow up I want to be happy"? Perhaps you are a happy person. Would you say that you enjoy life?

Life means more than just struggles in identification and exploration it means finding happiness and holding onto it. We live to die, A to B but the process should not have to be so hard.

Hi and welcome to Life by Lucy, I'm Lucy by the way. I've already written a few blogs but here I am, the face behind the words. You may not know where to start but finding my blog is only the beginning. So what does happiness mean to me?

Happiness is the state of being happy and on a scale from 1-10 I'd probably rate my life a solid 9. I don't have much to complain about but like everyone I have my days.

People these days don't really navigate towards their happiness but focus on what makes them sad and unhappy, whether it's picking out your flaws or staying inside all day and living a boring life.

My mindset changed one day when I decided to give myself a fresh start. I did this by blocking toxic people out of my life and becoming a goal-oriented person. I discovered what I wanted to do in life and who I wanted to be a part of my life and ever since then I've been a solid 9.

I believe that you have to experience upset in order to understand what makes you happy. Sometimes people don't even realise that they are happy until they are upset. Many people fake happiness until they have it, others place barriers in regards to finding happiness and by this I mean the people who complain about their life but do not take actions to change it.

Nothing in particular makes me happy however I seek for pride in life. I want people to be proud of me and what I have accomplished, even if it is just handing in a piece of work, I will always look for someone who can hand me a "well done".

I'm not a people pleaser but I do like to please my people. So to put it simple I am happy, but I'm looking for that 1 to make my 9 a 10. I asked my friends to scale their happiness from 1-10, all I asked for was a number because I understand that sometimes we can't explain why we are sad or happy.

I generally get sad over particular things like a break up or a disappointing result, so I am thankful that I am always able to identify my sadness. My blog addresses my feelings because I like to express how I feel. My blog provides an insight on topics from my point of view or as my side of the story, I am the way I am because of what I've been through. But I am a solid 9, which shows that the majority of experiences I've experienced have been positive.

I've been lucky in life to the fact that I have received many second chances to regain trust and to build happiness with people. Holding a grudge is probably one of the worst things you can do if you want to be happy. Causing upset on someone else intentionally reduces happiness and pride, so sometimes I feel like we all need to sit back and look at what we are doing or saying, sometimes you may even ask yourself the question "What can I do now to make this person happy?" or "How would they hope I'd react from this situation?"

Quite recently I have had to ask myself these questions. I wanted to give someone very special to me a second chance and though it has not been long since we made that decision I am very happy. Though many people have advised me to "keep my guard up" they all understand that this guy makes me happy. And all I ever want to achieve is happiness.

Investing in relationships and realising that I do not have to go with the expected allowed me to realise that I know what makes me happy, so why would I ever avoid happiness?

People make mistakes, but we learn from them and we grow. Looking back in a negative way will create a self-portrait of unhappiness. Positive outlook equals positive mindset.

My blog is Life by Lucy and I have dedicated my posts to life events that relate to finding or evolving happiness. Some blogs may be sad and others screaming pure joy, but life is about the rollercoaster of emotions. Life is about finding happiness and finding yourself.

We are all different but we are all alive. So smile, it's pretty crazy that life exists. How would you rate your happiness on a scale on 1-10?
